Welcome to the Hornsey Vale Community Centre – your ‘village hall’ in the heart of Hornsey Vale (Stationer's Park), near Crouch End in North London.
Come and join one of our regular activities: football or martial arts in the gym, yoga in the hall, or one of our therapy groups in the small meeting rooms.
The Centre is run by the Hornsey Vale Community Association, a charitable non-profit making organisation.

Hornsey British school was built in 1864 and opened in 1865, largely through the efforts of Russell Maynard, a member of Park chapel and active in the British and Foreign Schools Society.
Hornsey county school opened in 1904, as Hornsey higher elementary school, on land which had been acquired by the board east of South Harringay school.
Hornsey school for girls was formed in 1967 out of Hornsey high, Hornsey county, and Clemence Cave schools.

George Watson’s charity that year was to raise funds for the extension of the Hornsey Y.M.C.A., and together with their president, Sir Brett Cloutman, organised the Hornsey Carnival, finishing at the Y.M.C.A. Since then Hornsey Carnival has organised annual parades, all with the aim of raising funds for the local charities.
During the years Hornsey Carnival has participated to many notable events, taking part in the “Easter Parade”, Battersea Park, attending the “Navy Days” both at Chatham and Portsmouth, raising funds for “King Georges fund for Sailors”, Princess Jackie Williams is seen here receiving the Navy Days Shield from HRH Prince Phillip, at the Mansion House.
In more recent years, the Hornsey Carnival Court were honoured by leading the Haringey section of the London Borough’s procession celebrating the Queens Jubilee at Copthall, Barnet, in front of Her Majesty, and HRH Prince Phillip.

Hornsey was an ancient parish in the county of Middlesex.
In 1899 the South Hornsey urban district and civil parish were absorbed by the Metroplitan Boroughs of Hackney and Stoke Newington in the County of London.
The urban district and civil parish of Hornsey remained in Middlesex, being incorporated as a the Municipal Borough of Hornsey in 1903.

 History of Hornsey Vale Community Association
Local people campaigned long and hard for the remaining part of the old school to be kept and turned into a community centre.
Originally the Centre was known as Stationers Community Centre, as Stationers School (the original building) had been in the area for a long time, and the adjacent park had been called Stationers Park.
The name was changed to Hornsey Vale Community Association when the building re-opened in May 2000.
