Punk rock - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Punk rock was also a reaction against tendencies that had overtaken popular music in the 1970s, including what the punks saw as superficial "disco" music and bombastic forms of heavy metal, progressive rock and "arena rock." Punk also rejected the remnants of the hippie counterculture of the 1960s.
Punk rock in Britain coincided with the end of the era of post-war consensus politics that preceded the rise of Thatcherism, and nearly all British punk bands expressed an attitude of angry social alienation.
Gradually punk became more varied and less minimalist with bands such as The Clash incorporating other underground musical influences like ska and rockabilly and even jazz into their music, but the message of the music remained the same; it was subversive, counter-cultural, rebellious, politically incorrect and often anarchist.

Punk rock is the anti-establishment music movement of the period 1976-80, exemplified by The Ramones, the Sex Pistols, The Clash, and The Damned.
Punk rockers rejected what they saw as the pretension, commercialism and pomposity which had overtaken rock music in the 1970s, spawning superficial "disco" music and grandiose forms of heavy metal, progressive rock and "arena rock".
Punk rock emphasised simple musical structure and short songs, extolling a "DIY" ("do it yourself") ethic that insisted anyone could form a punk rock band (the early UK punk fanzine Sniffin' Glue once famously included drawings of three chord shapes, captioned, "this is a chord, this is another, this is a third.

Post-punk - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
During the first wave of punk, roughly spanning 1974–1978, bands such as the Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Ramones, and The Damned began to challenge the current styles and conventions of rock music by stripping the musical structure down to a few basic chords and progressions with an emphasis on speed and attitude.
Yet as punk itself soon came to have a signature sound a few bands began to experiment with more challenging musical structures, lyrical themes, and a self-consciously art-based image, while retaining punk's initial iconoclastic stance.
Typically more introverted, complex, arty, and experimental than classic punk rock or the more pop-oriented New Wave music, post-punk laid the groundwork for alternative rock by broadening the idea of what punk and underground music could do, incorporating elements of Krautrock, Jamaican dub music, American funk, and studio experimentation into the punk rock genre.

An Online Piece of My Mind: Review: The Rocky Horror Punk Rock Show
Punk rock reinvigorated rock 'n roll in an age when it was dying, when guitar players took no shame in indulging in twelve-minute solos.
The music from Rocky Horror is itself similar to punk -- from listening to the original soundtrack, one got the impression that the instrumentalists were bashing the hell out of their instruments in much the same way as Dr. Frankenfurter was bashing the hell out of his new playthings in the sack.
Granted, most punk singers probably have not had experience in the theater or acting, but you'd think their performances would carry a little bit more emotion.

Horror Rock is a step on from the Punk way, with a sense of character which draws upon other influences from the 50’s and 60’s, and in Britain we've always liked American Horror touches, so took to The Cramps immediately.
Punk, metal, and surf guitar all blend together into a cohseive sound topped off by melodic and distinctive lead vocals (no Danzig worship going on here, nor am I reminded of AFI as I was on Calbrese's previous EP).

Horror High records, launched in 2005 by Jon Nelson, is one of the very first labels devoted exclusively to horror rock.

 Definition of Punk fashion
Punk fashion is a fashion style largely associated with the punk movement during the late 1970s and early 1980s.
A classic punk fashion look might consist of: a pair of combat boots, motorcycle boots or Doctor Martens boots, tight jeans or tight leather pants worn with a ripped T-shirt and silver bracelets.
Even though true punk has no fashion, the people who try to dress all these ways are "posers" in true punks' eyes, thus called "punk by the book," based on the song by the post-punk band, Anti-Flag.
