Huns - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The establishment of the 5th century Hun Empire marks one of the first well-documented appearances of the culture of horseback migration in history.
Under the leadership of Attila the Hun, these tribal people achieved military and diplomatic superiority over their rivals (most of them highly cultured) through weapons like the Hun bow and a system of pay-offs, financed by the plundering of wealthy Roman cities to the south, to retain the loyalties of a diverse number of tribes.
After his sons were defeated by Ardaric's coalition at the unidentified river Nedao in 454, the Hunnish empire ceased to exist.

Eurasian nomads - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Europe was exposed to several waves of invasions by horse people, from the Cimmerians in the 8th century BC, down to the Migration period, and the Mongols and Seljuks in the High Middle Ages, and the Tatars down into modern times.
The earliest example of an invasion by a horse people may have been by the Proto-Indo-Europeans themselves, following the domestication of the horse in the 4th millennium BC (see Kurgan hypothesis).
The "Huns" of the Migration period were not a single ethnicity, but a conglomerate of Mongolian, Turkic, Iranian and Germanic and Slavic warbands.

Horseback riding in Spain - ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS
Spain is furrowed with countless tracks that tell the history, the culture and the traditions of the people, as if they were the lines of a hand.
They are the "CaƱadas Reales", old cattle tracks, existing since prehistoric man needed to move his cattle to new pastures, and cover an area fifteen times the length of the Spanish railways.
Those tracks were the main arteries of communication of the civilizations that for centuries lived in Spain.

Migration Information Source - From Horseback to High-Tech: US Border Enforcement
In part, this inattention reflected the fact that the majority of Mexico-US migration from 1942 to 1964 was legal under the Bracero Program, which brought millions of Mexican workers to the United States to offset labor shortages, most of whom returned home seasonally.
Border enforcement may be the only component of immigration policy that consistently garners a broad political consensus, which explains the tendency to continue directing additional resources toward these traditional approaches regardless of agency capabilities and policy outcomes.
As a result, economic disparities and other fundamental factors underlying illegal migration, drug smuggling, and the threat of terrorism have often been overlooked in favor of an overwhelming focus on border-area interdiction of illegal immigrants and drugs, which, in the final analysis, are the symptoms, not the causes, of deeper problems.

Migration Information Source - Mexican Immigration to the US: The Latest Estimates
In summary, migration from Mexico to the United States has accelerated rapidly to the point where about nine percent of the population born in Mexico is now living in the United States.
This continued migration is facilitated by the geographic dispersal of the flow within the United States as more economic niches become available to the newly arriving migrants.
Barring major changes in the nation's legal immigration policy, its enforcement strategies, or a sustained deterioration in the economy, it is likely that overall migration and migration from Mexico in particular will continue at roughly current levels.
