Tim Horton was born in Cochrane, Ontario and grew up playing hockey in the small leagues of northern Ontario.
Eventually it was confirmed that Horton had been travelling at over one hundred miles per hour, had consumed a considerable amount of alcohol, and had been taking pain killers due to a jaw injury suffered in a hockey game the night before.
Horton was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1977.

Horton had little to do with the chain and it was run and expanded by Joyce.
In 1974, while driving from Toronto to Buffalo in a new sportscar, Horton was killed in a car accident.

Sadly though Tim Horton was killed in a car accident on February 21, 1974, at the age of 44, near St. Catharines, Ontario, while returning home from Buffalo, New York.
Before her death though, Lori sued Ron Joyce for her shares of the fortune that she had previously sold him, but lost the lawsuit in 1993, and was declined for appeal in 1995.

A: Canada is home to about 2,200 Tim Hortons coffeehouses, which also serve lunch and baked goods.
There was a real Tim Horton whose NHL career spanned 22 seasons and landed him in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Horton died about 10 years later, but his name lives on to those seeking a cup of joe.

When I was living in Ontario I was a huge fan of Tim Horton's coffee as my town would host at least 8 concessions so no matter where I would go I would find a Tim Horton's Coffee shop.
I do agree with other complaints though about the taste of the Tim Horton's coffee sold in tins, it is not the same at all.

A little research (using the TH store locator and provincial population numbers) shows that there are 8395 people per Tim Horton’s in Ontario, while there are 21,530 P/TH in BC (and 15,718 P/TH in Alberta).
There’s apparently a Tim Horton’s shortage on the west coast.
In Sudbury Ontario population almost 300k for the whole area there are at least 20 Tim Hortons, if you drive past one, there is another one a few minutes away.
