Horton Plains, the highest tableland in Sri Lanka, is a plateau about 31.6sq.km in area, situated at an altitude of 2,100m on the central mountain massif.
In Horton Plains, in addition to browse, its food includes grasses, leaves and succulent shoots of many shrubs and tress.

At 5:30am we met our arranged driver who drove us the one hour from Nuwara Eliya to Horton Plains National Park.
It cost us 1500Rs for the driver to the plains (including waiting time) and entrance to the national park cost a steep US$13.50 each.
