Proving yet again their willingness to dice 'n' slice their burgeoning legacy into new--if not exactly fresh--product, the Fab Four Minus One released this single disc compendium of their No. 1 hits.
In selecting the tracks for 1, EMI Records together with Capitol Records in the USA chose the songs that were either No.1 in the Record Retailer chart in the UK (the only independently-audited UK chart throughout the sixties) or in the Billboard chart in the USA.
There aren't many bands that can boast 27 Number 1 hits - in eight years - and in a time when it was quite possibly twice as hard to get a number 1!

Amazon.com: Aretha Franklin - 30 Greatest Hits: Music
Hits includes most of her chart singles from those incomparable Atlantic years, from "Respect" in 1967 well into the '70s, as well as noncharting classics like "Do Right Woman" and "Dr. Feelgood." This is the definitive introduction to Franklin's artistry, but be warned: get this and you're going to want more.
Quite surprising to me was the fact that Aretha managed only one #1 pop hit during her career and that one--you guessed it--was her 1967 smash "Respect".
All those hits are included here, together with many of Aretha's other classic recordings for Atlantic, some of which were minor UK hits but all of which did much better as singles in America.

 The Beatles Biography
It was intended that this single would be the jewel in the crown of their next album, but by the summer of 1967 they had sufficient material to release 13 new tracks on Sgt.
This consisted of a 1977 track sung by Lennon into a tape recorder, and backed vocally and instrumentally in 1995 by the other three Beatles and produced by Jeff Lynne.
At Christmas 1965 the Beatles released Rubber Soul, an album that was not a collection of would-be hits or favourite cover versions, as the previous releases had been, but a startlingly diverse collection, ranging from the pointed satire of Nowhere Man to the intensely reflective In My Life.

Among country songwriter Harlan Howard’s favorite self-penned lines are a pair from “Life Turned Her That Way,” a 1967 Mel Tillis hit that Ricky Van Shelton recently took back to the top of the charts:
Even though Howard has had as many as 15 songs in the top 40 at the same time, he’s particularly elated because Crowell is a fellow songwriter, one of the few members of the back-of-the-album fine-print crowd who’s grabbed the spotlight.
At the height of a traditionalist revival, Howard is hot again.
