  Cnes CSG - Spainsat and Hot Bird 7A
Following the failed launch of the HOT BIRD™ 7 satellite in December 2002 (Ariane 5, Flight 157), the contract to build the new HOT BIRD™ 7A was awarded to Alcatel Space.
HOT BIRD 7A will handle the retransmission of television signals for the Eutelsat organisation.
HOT BIRD 7A is based on the Alcatel Space, Spacebus 3000 B3 platform, and will join the HOTBIRD family of satellites that are colocated at 13° East.

HOT BIRD 8 is based on the E3000 version of the Eurostar family, already ordered by five major satellite operators.

 'Hot Bird' broadcast satellite is at pad
Alcatel says the Hot Bird 7A broadcast satellite it built for Eutelsat Communications has arrived at its launch pad in French Guiana.
The Hot Bird will be shot Feb. 21 into a position at 13 degrees East where it will be in position to beam radio and television broadcasts for cable and satellite customers.
The satellite will replace the spacecraft currently floating in that particular spot and will work in conjunction with Hot Bird 8, which is scheduled for launch in the second quarter.
