 | | For several years now, an organization called CalTrout has stated that Mammoth Community Water District's diversions of Mammoth Creek to provide Mammoth Lakes with drinking water are harming downstream uses of the creek, including a valuable trout fishery located at Hot Creek Hatchery and in the rest of Hot Creek itself. |
 | | CalTrout has stated that the "low flows" in Mammoth Creek, a result they say, of the MCWD taking too much water for the community, are causing the areas of Hot Creek that lie below U.S. 395 to become silted over and to increase in temperature, both of which have a detrimental impact to trout. |
