		Hot Rod was then reissued in the US by Hasbro but he was renamed Rodimus Major and now Takara have released what is probably the ultimate Hot Rod reissue, the seventh main incarnation, the Collection #13 reissue of Targetmaster Hot Rod.
		Hot Rod was of course first introduced to fans in the 1986 feature film Transformers: The Movie and was the main character in the film.
		Hot Rod's robot mode has always been very show-accurate and has had personality due to the design of his facial features, the wide shoulders, the chrome guns/exhausts and the yellow wing on his back.

	Hot Rod - Marvel Super Heroes Classic Style
		As are the rest of his fellow Autobots, Hot Rod is an electromechanical entity of Cybertronian origin, a sentient robot that strives to prevent Decepticon domination of the universe.
		As such, Hot Rod, along with several other Autobots, agreed to a binary bonding of a different sort; this form of bonding consisted of several Nebulans being bio-engineered into becoming the very weapons the Autobots would use to combat their Decepticon foes - and thus, the Targetmasters were born!
		Now based primarily on earth, Hot Rod and his binary-bonded partner, Firebolt, continued to assist in the war against the Decepticons, both on Earth and throughout the galaxy - when not on some sort of misadventure of their own devising, that is. Of course, this was not to last forever.

		Hot Rod was first issued as a tie-in with "Transformers The Movie" in 1986.
		The toy was also issued in Japan as part of the "Transformers 2010" line as Hot Rodimus in 1986, Takara also making a model kit based on the animation model version of the robot mode, though the Targetmaster variant was skipped.
		The transformation is rather good, but it feels very delicate, like he could break with one wrong move, especially if you get cocky and try to find shortcuts from the sequence in the instructions.

	Toy Review
		Although Hot Rodimus was an original Transformer mould (as opposed to being derived from another toyline like Diaclone or Microman), he actually has a driver's compartment, although it cannot be opened.
		The original Hot Rod has two stickers that are placed on the thighs, however, these stickers were soon damaged due to friction with the lower legs sliding over the upper legs.
		Consequently, this toy would only appeal to fans of the original Transformers, where Hot Rod was a major player in the canon.

		In his alternate form, Hot Rod looks almost exactly like he does in the movie, and it'll warm your heart just to look at him and think of fonder days before Rodimus.

	C-78 Hot Rodimus Re-Issue
		Hot Rodimus (C-78) was scheduled for release by Takara on the 27th of December 2000, but didn't arrive at my local Jusco Department Store until the 29th of December.
		This is the third re-release of a vintage Transformer and is based on the original Hot Rod released in 1986.
		I think Hot Rodimus is one of the more favorite/popular Transformers and I would think that many TransFans would love to add a new Hot Rod to their collection, thanks Takara!

	Powerlinx Hot Shot w/ Jolt Toy Review
		Powerlinx Hot Shot's color scheme is obviously reminscent of Hot Rod, the G1 character that became Rodimus Prime after he accepted the Matrix of Leadership in Transformers: The Movie.
		The extra flame decos on the front hood of the car mode look awesome, and this, combined with his now primarily red-and-fl color scheme, is certainly a lot, LOT more pleasing to the eye than all that horrid yellow of the previous version.
		Powerlinx Hot Shot is a great improvement over the original version- a much better color scheme, and an improved face sculpt.

	Hot Rod Repaint
		For starters, he's entirely the wrong color; the Hot Rod in The Transformers: the Movie is more on the pink side of magenta, rather than the dark reddish color Rodimus Prime was in the series.
		Also, the toy was based on the movie character, but is missing a number of paint operations that would bring it much closer to his appearance in the film.
		Even though I painted a few of the moving parts, the toy still transforms perfectly, and in my opinion is a tremendous improvement on the original colors.

		Hot Shot is a prime example of what is right with the new Cybertron Series.
		Unfortunately in the cartoon he is heavily damaged and reformatted into an armored tank so this mold will probably disappear after the first quarter of `06.
		For Collectors: Definitely the best Hot Shot mold of the last several incarnations of TFs and the cartoon reformat will dictate the expiration of this mold which will make him a sought after piece for collectors.
