CORONADO – The venerable Hotel del Coronado soon will undergo major changes – some that will completely alter areas of the famed resort and others that merely will upgrade the 117-year-old Victorian establishment.
Hotel officials hope to begin work on some of their long-awaited expansion plans, perhaps in the fall, with a public pathway to the beach and dozens of "for sale" cottages and villas.
City officials have estimated Coronado will receive nearly $2 million a year in additional net revenue – in sales, property and hotel taxes – when all phases of the master plan are completed.
