Nancy Patricia D'Alesandro Pelosi (born March 26, 1940) is the Minority Leader of the United States House of Representatives.
In 2001, she was elected to the position of House Minority Whip, serving as second-in-command to Minority Leader Dick Gephardt of Missouri.
In 2002, after Gephardt resigned as minority leader to seek the Democratic nomination in the 2004 presidential election, Pelosi was elected minority leader.

That's why this week we just want to point out that Tom DeLay has declared that he will not allow a federal ban on assault weapons that expires this year to come up for a vote in the House of Representatives.
These are the ugly, nasty, semi-automatic guns that are designed for military purposes, but gun guys claim are useful in shooting flying fish and police officers.
