	SALAMAT HOUSING SOCIETY
		Salamat Housing Society was established in 1991 to create affordable housing options in the community. The society now manages Salamat Housing, and meets regularly with tenants to discuss concerns and consult on policy development.
		Society volunteers help tenants and new immigrants access language courses and other education, obtain employment, and access health professionals and other community services.
		The provincial government, through BC Housing, is providing $4.2 million in operating subsidies to the society over the next 35 years.

	Brighton Lions Club Housing Society
		Impressed with the concept, an anonymous donor gave sufficient funds to erect a block of 12 flats for the elderly, which was opened by the Mayor of Brighton in 1968.
		A few years later the Society had the opportunity to buy another plot of land at a substantial discount to the market price and six bungalows (Lions Gardens) were built in 1976.
