Texas' largest community college is considering adding a free honors college as soon as fall 2007 for high-achieving high school students with plans of transferring to a four-year college.
The Houston Community College System announced Thursday that discussions are underway to potentially add an honors college that would require students to have a grade point average of at least 3.5 and an SAT score of at least 1800.
Austin Community College has an honors program, which encompasses all of the core classes, where a minimum GPA of 3.5 is required, said spokeswoman Veronica Obregon.

Administration Within the College Without Walls, which included Distance Learning as a sub- entity, it was possible for a distance course to be considered as a part of an instructor's full-time load, with instructors teaching a 100% distance course load during certain semesters.
CONCLUSIONS The Houston Community College System has made a good beginning in delivering courses via "online delivery." We have not done the best job of capitalizing on our promising start and seem to have drifted without a clear sense of where to go next as we move into our sixth year of continuous restructuring.
