		Despite winning the Midwest Division the Rockets would not have home court advantage in the 2nd round as they faced the Seattle Supersonics, because under the NBA playoff format home court is awarded to the team with the better record in the 2nd round something the Sonics achieved by a head-to-head tiebreaker.
		The Rockets began to show their age and the wear and tear of long playoff runs as they played mediocre basketball all season on the way to finishing in 4th place with a 41-41 record.
