Dr Howard Geoffrey Alvan Stoate (born 14 April 1954) is a Labour politician in the United Kingdom.
Stoate was a general practitioner and a Dartford Borough Councillor 1990-99, Chair of Finance 1995-97.
He was elected Member of Parliament for Dartford in Kent in 1997 and was re-elected in 2001 and 2005.

The campaign has also highlighted the link between mouth cancer and excessive alcohol consumption and smoking and the low rate of survival amongst mouth cancer patients.
Dr Stoate, who is a practising GP and a member of the House of Commons Select Committee on health said; “mouth cancer affects nearly four and a half thousand people a year — which is more than cervical and testicular cancer put together — and the evidence shows that it is on the increase.”
