  Hua Luogeng - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hua Luogeng or Loo-keng 華羅庚 (November 12, 1910 - June 12, 1985) was a mathematician from China.
Hua was partially paralyzed in his late teenage, due to mistreatment in a prolonged illness during which he stayed in bed for half a year.
Hua studied Abel's original paper on the unsolvability of quintics and found a miscalculation in a 13x13 matrix in Su's paper.

Tang Youqi, a leading biochemist at Beijing University who received his Ph.D. from the California Institute of Technology and worked with Linus Pauling in the 1940s, vividly remembers reading Ren Hongjun's speeches in Kexue as a youth and being inspired to pursue a career in science.

The prestigious China University of Science and Technology in Hefei of East China's Anhui Province recently set up "master lectures" to attract more first-class scholars and scientists to give lectures to students.
The "master lectures" are named after famous Chinese scientists or noted professors and scholars in Chinese scientific establishment including Hua Luogeng, Yan Jici and Qian Xuesen.
