We hired a combi to get us to Huanchaco, though the driver's assistant was a somewhat neanderthal lad who drooled over our bags when he fell asleep and took an unsettling liking to Nina's feet.

The weather was hot and sticky but I enjoyed been a beach bum for a few hours.
Besides a stroll on the beach and visit to Huanchaco's, there's not too much to see or do.

Huanchaco is a beach 'resort' about 10km NW of Trujillo in the department of Libertad.
No road signs at all anywhere in Trujillo so ask directions, go past the extraordinary adobe (mud-brick) city of Chan Chan (14th Century) and past the airport (slightly more recent, even if it doesn't look it...).
Overshadowed by being not so far from Chicama and Pacasmayo; definately worth a visit, especially as Trujillo has so much else to offer by way of culture and entertainment.

I have had such an amazing time here in Huanchaco, and am thinking that if and when I slow my travels down a bit in South America and see Bolivia and Chile and Argentina I may just wander back to this town and settle in for a couple months..
Last night was the last night in Huanchaco for most of them, and so - as any true nomad- they´ve stayed long enough to make passage to the next town and must continue on.

I´m in Huanchaco, Peru which is a really laid back, chilled out beachtown, though since it´s the middle of the week it´s also pretty empty.
In the evenings i´ve been sampling the local seafood in Huanchaco in a couple of the many restaurants, and can report that it is very good indeed.
And averaging about 2 or 3 quid for a slap up meal with drinks can´t be bad either.
