  Hubert Ingraham - Caribbean Hall of Fame
Bio: Prime Minister Ingraham was born at Pine Ridge on the island of Grand Bahama, on August 4, 1947, the son of Isabella Laroda (nee Cornish) and Jerome Ingraham.
Ingraham represented The Bahamas at the independence celebrations in St. Kitts in 1983, and was an alternate delegate at the Conference of the International Development Bank in Uruguay in 1983, and the International Monetary Fund/World Bank between 1979 and 1984.
Ingraham was unanimously elected Leader of the Free National Movement and was appointed Leader of the Official Opposition on May 18, 1990, by the Governor-General and in June of 1990 he led his party to a by-election victory over the governing party.

The truth be told the referendum did not fail because lack of consultation because the PLP suppose to have voted in the interest and i assume with the knowledge of their constituents.
What really happened was this: the PLP knew that the FNM had fallen out of grace with the bahamian people and seize an opportunity to deny the FNM and the Ingraham Administration any credit to an otherwise astute eventuality, as we have seen of late.
The PLP only had 4 seats, why didn't The FNM inform the 90% of Bahamians that they represented (who is trying to deceive now).The referendum attempt failed because the Bahamian people were tired of Hubert Ingraham and his idea that "I am the big bad Prime Minister and can do anything I want".
