Hubert Robert (1753 - April 15, 1808), (The Romance language spoken in France and in countries colonized by France) French (A person whose creative work shows sensitivity and imagination) artist, was born at (The capital and largest city of France; and international center of culture and commerce) Paris.
Robert's work has more or less of that scenic character which justified his selection by (French writer who was the embodiment of 18th century Enlightenment (1694-1778)) Voltaire to paint the decorations of his theatre at Ferney.
Robert died of (A sudden loss of consciousness resulting when the rupture or occlusion of a blood vessel leads to oxygen lack in the brain) apoplexy on the 15th of April 1808.

Robert, returning to restore them, occupied Corfu and Kephalonia, but died of fever in the latter on the 15th of July 1o85, in his 7oth year.
At his death Robert was duke of Apulia and Calabria, prince of Salerno and suzerain of Sicily.

Robert began training with him in Rome, and Panini's influence was profound and lifelong.
Robert began painting more or less imaginary representations of antique ruins and fantastic views of urban architecture and became known as "Robert des Ruines." While in Rome, he also went drawing with Jean-Honoré Fragonard, whose late Rococo style he shared.
Robert's first exhibit at the Salon of 1767 prompted critic Denis Diderot to write, "The ideas which the ruins awake in me are grand." Later on, Robert became designer of the king's gardens and keeper of Louis XVI's pictures.

Robert went to Rome (1754), was elected to the French Academy there, and became a friend and associate of the renowned etcher of architectural subjects Giambattista Piranesi.
At the Villa d'Este, Tivoli, Robert produced a quantity of red chalk drawings of ancient buildings in ruined parks, animated with small figures.

Hubert Robert was given a classical education by the Jesuits at the prestigious Collège de Navarre (1745-1751), the most important Paris school after the Sorbonne.
Robert spent eleven years in Rome, an unusually long period for a young man without any official post at the French Academy, meeting prominent collectors and artists, including Piranesi and Panini, both of whom profoundly influenced him.
