He was a grandson of Dr. John Johnstone of Edinburgh, who was born there in 1661, became a druggist "at the sign of the Unicorn" there, emigrated to New York in 1685, subsequently became Mayor of New York and ultimately removed to Perth Amboy, where he practiced medicine until his death in September, 1732.
He was one of the founders of the Saint Andrew's Society of Philadelphia in 1749 and in 1751 became its Vice-President.
He was educated at St. Andrews University.He was called to the Scottish bar in 1750 and was one of the Crown counsel at the trial of James Stewart for the murder of Campbell of Glenure in 1752.

A Munro is a Scottish hill with a height over 3000ft (914m).
They are named after Sir Hugh Munro, who published the first exhaustive list of such hills, known as Munro's Tables, in 1891.
Despite their relatively low height, it is widely accepted that winter ascents of certain Munros can provide among the most challenging ice climbs in Europe.

He was the son of Andrew B. Paterson, grazier, and was related to Edmund Barton (q.v.).
He was elected to represent Clunes and Allandale in the legislative assembly in March 1889, and in November 1890 joined the Munro (q.v.) ministry as a minister without portfolio.
His father, Andrew Petrie (1798-1872), was born in Fife, Scotland, and went into the building trade at Edinburgh.

 The John Fagan Family, Hero of the Battle of King's Mountain
Captain William Johnston M. He served at the Battle of King's Mountain, South Carolina on 07-OCT-1780 in which the British forces under General Cornwallis were stopped from taking over the south.
A third daughter of George W. Hughes, Laura J. Hughes, who was born about 1862 must have been out on her own by then.
Blount Hughes, was born in Mississippi on 28-OCT-1843 and died in Denton on 27-JUL-1871.

This states that Munro's original 1891 list included 238 hills (it was actually 283); that there are currently 233 subsidiary Tops (it's 227) that Hugh Symonds holds the record for the fastest round (it's Andrew Johnston and Rory Gibson, 51 days in 1992, although Charlie Campbell could well be trashing this as TAC46 appears).
Hugh Munro's two unclimbed Munros are given as the In Pinn (wrong) and "Carn Clioch - mhuilinn" (sic).
Enjoy them all, whether they be Munros, Corbetts or Donalds." This, remember, is a book about a route which starts in Fort William and heads north- wards.
