Date and Darwen presented the maxim: All logical difference are big differences and it's corollary All logical mistakes are big mistakes as central to their work on the Third Manifesto.
It is because Date and Darwen claim that the structure of domains is orthogonal to support of the relational model, that this issue cannot be dismissed by asserting that there is confusion about the exact definition of a simple domain.

Alphora is pleased to announce that Hugh Darwen, author, lecturer and database theorist, will be speaking in Provo on Monday, February 3, 2003.
The Third Manifesto is a paper by Hugh Darwen and C.J. Date, proposing a foundation for database management systems based firmly in E.F. Codd's "Relational Model of Data for Large Shared Data Banks" (1970).
The stern technical discussion is interspersed with anecdotes and imaginative episodes of light relief, but with a serious message, delivered in an unusual style.

The resultant inescapable formal underwriting of connection traps is not described, however, but your now repentant reviewer’s contribution to leading Darwen up this garden path is generously acknowledged.
