Broadway.com has learned that Hugh Panaro is in negotiations for the lead role of Lestat de Lioncourt in the Broadway-bound musical Lestat.
Panaro is currently starring as the title character in The Phantom of the Opera.
Panaro also created the title role in the American premiere of Martin Guerre, which he performed across the country.

Beginning Monday evening, April 14, HUGH PANARO will return to the title role in Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera, directed by Harold Prince, at The Majestic Theatre (247 West 44th Street).
Panaro originally became Broadway's tenth "man behind the mask" in 1999 and he now becomes the first performer in the history of the New York production to return to the title role.
Panaro succeeds Howard McGillin, who originally succeeded him in 1999.
