 HUGH McCRARY FAMILY HISTORY
Hugh was married to Susannah Whitaker in current day Chester Co., PA, in 1748/49.
FOR DESCENDANTS OF HUGH McCRARY, SR., OF PA AND ROWAN CO.,NC Hugh McCrary's birthplace has not been definitely established as of this time, however, it is thought that he came to the United States from Ireland in the mid-1700s during one of the Scotch-Irish influxes into this country.
Susannah Whitaker was the daughter of William and Elizabeth Carleton Whitaker and was born in 1727.

 Teenager facing child pornography charges
Investigators from BSO and the Law Enforcement Against Child Harm Task Force interviewed Whitaker in jail and got written consent from him to examine the contents of his computer, BSO spokesman Hugh Graf said.
Alexander Charles Whitaker was being held in the Broward County Jail Friday on $300,000 bond.
Whitaker was released from jail on the weapons charge July 28.

Hugh was the oldest son of John Whitaker (~1745-1823) of the Raleigh, NC, area: this John Whitaker is the one in the Patriot Index from North Carolina who did NOT fight in the Revolution.
He had a son called William Edwin Whitaker born Stroud 17/3/1833 and married in Swansea 7/5/1854 The problem that I have is that it seems that William Edwin died somewhere unknown, and it thought that he was killed in an accident whilst driving a coach for his employer.
According to 1870 Census of Henry Co., AL William Whitaker was born in 1828 in GA had a wife Elizabeth born in 1830.

Some think that Susannah, wife of Hugh McCrary was a Whitaker, others think she was a Boyd or a York.
This means that Hugh and Susannah McCrary were married in Chester Co., PA about 1748/49 indicating that ALL of their children were born in America.
Hugh McCrary died the day his will was written, February 14, 1785 at age sixty-five.

One of his first bands was The Velvetones with fellow future South man Dave Rotheray, but his big break came when he was asked to replace Hugh Whitaker as the Housemartin's drummer in early 1987.
Dave was the only member of The Housemartins to go on with Paul to form The Beautiful South.
Instead of continuing to drum, Dave was initially recruited as lead singer, but his lack of stage presence meant Paul soon came to be the frontman, with Dave relegated to backing vocals most of the time.
