TV/Video Preservation Study: Volume 1: Report - National Film Preservation Board (Library of Congress)
Public archives are obliged to preserve television materials because of the popularity of television in American society and because of educational interests that focus on television's interactive role in numerous social and political processes.
The television and video heritage represents an important part of the collective experience and memory of the American people, yet much of the public record--as it were--is retained in the custody of private corporations whose policies are subject to the ebb and flow of the market place.
Television advertisers, who basically pay the networks for programs through the purchase of air time for their ads, cannot be taken for granted; there are more outlets than ever fiercely competing for their ad accounts.

DVD Verdict Review - Hullabaloo Over Georgie And Bonnie's Pictures
Hullabaloo is thus more genteel, more laid-back, and more placid than its title would suggest.
Hullabaloo is presented in its original aspect ratio of 1.33:1, which in these days of widescreen format can't help but seem inadequate to convey the grandeur of the Indian scenery, but the real problem is the rampant grain and speckling, which are near-constant distractions.
Hullabaloo Over Georgie and Bonnie's Pictures is a pleasant little diversion, especially for those interested in seeing how past and present interact in modern India.

 Hullabaloo-Vol 5-8
Intro-This second Hullabaloo DVD was much anticipated by myself as I had enjoyed the first disc and its variety of acts from the 60's.
This second disc is far less exciting in its acts and technical quality, as NBC trashed the original masters and only kept poor quality fl and white kinescopes.
Hullabaloo used some live performances and some obvious lip synching for some acts.

Coates, an assistant professor of communications, studies the strange intersection of television and rock music in an age before MTV primed the youth-culture pump.
One of the biggest myths, she said, is that rock music wasn’t welcome on network television prior to cable television and music videos.
Television’s influence on rock and roll popularity has been downplayed by rock itself — a genre reliant on its outsider mythology, Coates said.

Hullabaloo aired on NBC in 1965 and 1966, featuring performances by pop music artists of the day and hosted each week by a different celebrity guest.
Looking at Hullabaloo thirty-odd years later, it's apparent that musical experimentation was the farthest thing from the minds of the show's producers and sponsors, who were more preoccupied with cashing on this whole teen music thing.
Still, Hullabaloo is entertaining and definitely of its time, with 1960's hairdos and set designs providing nostalgic fun, and the mostly-live performances record some very young acts at the height of their popularity.
