Human - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Human evolution is characterized by a number of important physiological trends, including the expansion of the brain cavity and brain itself, which is typically 1,400 cm³ in volume, over twice that of a chimpanzee or gorilla.
Human beings are one of only six species to pass the mirror test—which tests whether an animal recognizes its reflection as an image of itself—along with chimpanzees, bonobos, orangutans, dolphins, and possibly pigeons.
Humanism is a philosophy which defines a socio-political doctrine the bounds of which are not constrained by those of locally developed cultures, but which seeks to include all of humanity and all issues common to human beings.

 The Completed Human Being
Human completion is not glimpsed from the eye-level of the average human being; nor is it successfully theorized or described by science, sociology, philosophy, or psychology; it is a gift from the Creator of the human being.
The human being implies his or her own completion, as a plant implies the existence of the sun, as man implies the existence of woman.
Although a mature human being may incidentally have the facility to enter other realms of consciousness and states of being, one's submission to and trust in the Absolute Compassion significantly reduces the need for and preoccupation with such explorations.

 Human Being
The wisdom traditions have recognized that a human being is mature and complete -- that is, fully human -- when the soul has integrated her essential nature fully and harmonized it with her animal potential.
Human beings have two options: being in contact with the Source, or being in a state of disconnection from it.
Being disconnected from the Source is not the loss of luxury, of something extra -- this loss lies at the very heart of human suffering because this Source constitutes your most real nature, the true centre of who you are.

Given these basic facts of human embryology, it is easier to recognize the many scientifically inaccurate claims that have been advanced in the discussions about abortion, human embryo research, cloning, stem cell research, the formation of chimeras, and the use of abortifacients — and why these discussions obfuscate the objective scientific facts.
A human kidney or liver, a human skin cell, a sperm or an oocyte all possess human life, but they are not human beings — they are only parts of a human being.
And this developing human being is a human being, a human embryo, a human child whether or not it is implanted artificially into the womb of the mother.

Part 1 - What Are Human Rights?
Human rights are indivisible: you cannot be denied a right because it is "less important" or "non-essential." Human rights are interdependent: all human rights are part of a complementary framework.
To violate someone’s human rights is to treat that person as though she or he were not a human being.
Human rights also empower people with a framework for action when those minimum standards are not met, for people still have human rights even if the laws or those in power do not recognize or protect them.

The human embryo is not something different in kind from a human being, nor is it merely a "potential human being," whatever that might mean.
The adult that is you is the same human being who, at an earlier stage of your life, was an adolescent, and before that a child, an infant, a fetus and an embryo.
I reject the idea that human beings at certain stages of development (embryos, fetuses, infants) or in certain conditions (the severely handicapped or mentally retarded, those suffering dementia) are not "persons" who possess dignity and a right to life.

 What Heidegger Means by Being-in-the-World
Human beings are characterised by uniqueness, one from another, and this uniqueness gives rise to a set of possibilities for each individual.
Once human beings realise that they have their own destiny to fulfill, then their concern with the world will no longer be the concern to do as the masses do, but can become an ‘authentic’ concern to fulfill their real potentiality in the world (Warnock 1970).
Humans beings are thrown with neither prior knowledge nor individual option into a world that was there before and will remain there after they are gone (Steiner 1978).

Human metabolism runs on the oxidation of sugars, which may be eaten directly as such, or which the human digestive mechanism may produce from carbohydrates.
As a result, while it is possible for humans to subsist on a sufficiently varied vegetarian diet, it is all but impossible for them to survive on meat alone, especially since their metabolism also requires traces of many elements not available to strict carnivores, and is unable to synthesize many necessary complex molecules.
Humans in Italy, where pasta has long been a universal staple, have developed a basic pasta sauce that may be altered to successfully encompass ingredients as diverse as spicy sausage, seafood, and fish.

A human kidney or liver, a human skin cell, a sperm or an oocyte all possess human life, but they are not human beings—they are only parts of a human being.
As all human embryologists know, a single-cell human zygote, or a more developed human embryo, or human fetus is a human being—and that that’s the way they are supposed to look at those particular periods of development.

When Do Human Beings Begin?  Page 3
"Human embryo research, human cloning, stem cell research, and the formation of chimeras are acceptable kinds of research because until implantation or 14 days there is only a ‘pre-embryo’, a ‘potential’ human embryo or human being present.
The formation of chimeras, i.e., the fertilization of a gamete of one species (e.g., a human oocyte) with the gamete of another species (e.g., a monkey sperm) also results in an embryo that is "half-human." All of these types of research have been banned by most countries in the world.
Hence, the developing human embryo or fetus is not a "fish" or a "frog," but is categorically a human being—as has been already demonstrated.

Human bodyhood is always the bodying forth of the ways of being in which we are dwelling and which we constitute our existence at any given moment.
The fundamental trait of existential coexistence of human beings appears in their jointly sustaining and maintaining the openness of the world they clear in common...when people are together, they reveal only that they are jointly and inherently dwelling in the same relationship to common objects of their shared world.

Being Human turned out to be, in my opinion, one of the best Star Trek: New Frontier novels he's written up to this point.
Being Human does that in spades; in fact, it incorporates one of the more interesting of the early epsisodes.
Being Human is not only play on words, but also a most appropriate title that hits the crux of the storyline.
