Humphreys County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi, in the Mississippi Delta region.
In the county the population was spread out with 32.70% under the age of 18, 10.70% from 18 to 24, 25.80% from 25 to 44, 18.80% from 45 to 64, and 12.00% who were 65 years of age or older.
The median income for a household in the county was $20,566, and the median income for a family was $23,719.

Humphreys was elected Colonel of the regiment upon its organization in Virginia from various independent companies which had arrived on their own.  As part of Brig.
In August of 1864, Humphreys and his troops were sent to the Shenandoah Valley to reinforce the II Corps, under Lt. Gen.
Jubal A. Early.  General Humphreys continued to lead his men until the battle of Berryville in September 1864, where he was severely wounded and disabled for the remainder of the war.

Mississippi and other southern states were expected to voluntarily reconstruct themselves and extend the rights of citizenship to their former slaves.

Humphreys Cemetery,[1] located near Martindale, in Caldwell County, Texas, had its beginnings in 1854 with the burial of Randolph Reed Jennings who was laid to rest on a hill northeast of Morrison Creek, a tributary of the San Marcos River.
The Humphreys Cemetery is situated on land which was part of a 1,490 acre tract purchased by Joseph Humphreys.
During the first several years after relocating from Mississippi, slave ownership was common among the farmers and ranchers of Caldwell County[19] and by verbal tradition it has been said that some of these individuals received an honorable burial near the graves of their masters.
