The station is relatively new; it was re-built in 1982 after the old Humppila station was burnt down in 1973 when the station post office was burgled.
The railway halt of Kermala is located about two kilometres from Humppila at the top of the steepest hill on the Jokioinen Museum railway, the Hill of Huhti (Huhdinmäki).
You can still see the location of the water tower from the remains of the chimney which was used to heat the water in winter to avoid freezing, and of the land embankment which made up the foundations of the water tower and firewood shelter.
