On Jan. 27, Fidesz leader Viktor Orban—a former prime minister—criticized the government’s economic policies, and said the introduction of a single flat tax rate for personal incomes "could be a main issue for next year’s budget." The next parliamentary ballot is tentatively scheduled for April 2006.
The ruling Socialist Party (MSZP) is second with 20 per cent, followed by the Alliance of Free Democrats (SZDSZ) and the Hungarian Democratic Forum (MDF) with two per cent.
