 Pratt Center: Hunter's Point Rezoning
Hunter's Point, and Long Island City in general, have been undergoing significant changes for the last several years.
Instead of merely rezoning Hunters Point and thereby opening the floodgates for commercial and residential development that would eventually erase Long Island City's industrial past, I strongly advise the City Council to vote against the rezoning without establishing an "Industrial Employment District" directly to the north of Hunters Point.
Rezoning Hunters Point without creating an Industrial Employment District to its north would effectively be a letting go of such firms because without a real mechanism like this, they will not naturally survive for long.
