I have not done much research, but to the best of my knowledge Vlad was held captive by Matthias Hunyad Corvinus (one of the greatest kings of Hungary, of Transylvanian origin, son of great warlord governor Johannes Hunyad, aka.
Ioannus/John/Janos/Ioan of Hunyad), in the church clocktower in the historic Transylvanian city of Mediash (German: Mediasch), in the Transylvanian castle at Hunedoara (Hungarian: Vajda Hunyad, German: Huniadstadt, Eisenmarkt) and at Matthias' court, at the fortress Visegrad, on the Danube in Hungary.
John Hunyad was an ally as well as a distant relative of his.

According to certain sources, the oldest known members were the Serbian princes (cnez-es) Radoslav and Serb who, as many of the other cnez-es, were settling Rumanians into Hungarian territory.
