Douglas Hurd - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Douglas Richard Hurd, Baron Hurd of Westwell, CH, CBE, PC (born March 8, 1930), is a British politician in the Conservative Party, and a patron of the Tory Reform Group.
He was created Baron Hurd of Westwell in the County of Oxfordshire, in 1997, and remains active, supporting the pro-European wing of the Conservative party, notably Kenneth Clarke, and often criticising the leadership.
Hurd's son, Nick Hurd, is also a Conservative politician and was elected Member of Parliament for Ruislip-Northwood at the May 2005 general election.

GNU Hurd - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is done by having the Hurd track the POSIX specification, while avoiding arbitrary restrictions on the user.
In 2005, Hurd developer Neal Walfield finished the initial memory management framework for the L4/Hurd port, and Marcus Brinkmann ported essential parts of glibc; namely, getting the process startup code working, allowing programs to run, thus allowing the first user programs (trivial ones such as the hello world program in C) to run.
This makes developing the Hurd much easier (at least in theory) as making changes to one is less likely to have side-effects in others.

 99-7145 -- U.S. v. Hurd -- 07/27/2000
Hurd raised seven separate issues in the § 2255 petition, including the following two claims: (1) the government had breached a post-plea cooperation agreement; and (2) his counsel was ineffective in failing to raise the cooperation agreement before the district court at sentencing.
Hurd eventually pleaded guilty to count two of the indictment, which count alleged that Hurd knowingly and intentionally possessed a large quantity of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute in violation of 21 U.S.C. § 841(a)(1) and 18 U.S.C. Hurd's plea was entered pursuant to a particularly thorough, written plea agreement.
Although Hurd did attach to his § 2255 petition the statements of his mother and aunt to the effect that Hurd's counsel claimed that Hurd would receive a ten-year sentence, these statements, even assuming they are admissible, in no way suggest the existence of a cooperation agreement apart from the signed, written plea agreement.
