Hursley House, standing in the park, was built in 1718—20 by Sir William Heathcote, first baronet, and has been very much extended and refitted within the last few years by the present owner, Sir George Cooper.
In the north of the park are the ruins of Merdon Castle, one of the palaces of the bishops of Winchester.
Hursley House is a fine building, the central part of which dates from the early part of the eighteenth century, while the wings are modern additions.

IBM Hursley demands great respect - it is the place where CICS and MQSeries were created and the impact of the work carried out at Hursley cannot be understated.
My comment was meant to be tongue in cheek point aimed more at IBM's deep technical capabilities and the fact that IBM's latest ESB offering appears more as a blatant marketing release than a technical innovation which the nomenclature of WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus would infer.
In addition, my thoughts and opinions often change, and as a weblog is intended to provide a semi-permanent point in time snapshot you should not consider out of date posts to reflect my current thoughts and opinions.
