Hustle & Flow Movie Review   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-06)
Howard is brilliant in Hustle & Flow, oozing the ignorance, violence and desperation of his character, a low-rent pimp who has a mid-life crisis and decides to claw his way out through music.
The movie works because it's grounded in realism while the theme is sympathetic -- and all the characters' struggles are fraught with setbacks both external and internal.
What also makes the movie a fascinating watch is how everyone manages to work together to support the main character's dream without reneging on their own individuality.

''Hustle and Flow" is the story of a drug-dealing North Memphis pimp, his ambitions of rap superstardom, and, of course, his hos.
The movie tries to dramatize this domestic headache, but writer-director Craig Brewer's idea of living-room drama consists of ear-splitting, expletive-heavy screaming matches between man and woman that no one seems to win.
But the movie never loses hope and expects us to keep rooting for him long past the point when we should.
