Huttese - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki
Huttese was the native language of the Hutts.
Huttese was so influental that it also became the language of the Rodian race, rendering the Old Rodese obsolete.
All the Nimbanels were fluent in Huttese, as well as in Basic and their own language, because their snout structure made it easy for them to articulate the Huttese language.

Languages in Star Wars - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Another lingua franca in the Star Wars Universe that is spoken by many groups and species is Huttese, spoken on Tatooine and other worlds in and around Hutt space.
The name Huttese suggests that it was originally spoken by the Hutt species and adopted by other races, most likely those involved in business with the Hutts such as the Rodians.
The Wookiee growls and the beeps of the astromechs mainly carry emotional indicators for the audience via intonation, and Huttese is mainly a jumble of words taken from numerous real human languages.

Huttese is not as widely understood as we believed, outside the native-speaking populations in the outer rim.
Huttese culture deals very heavily with food consumption: The bigger a Hutt is, as a result of his aggressive food consumption, the more power he is thought to have.
As a result of their cultural obsession with food, much of the Huttese vernacular appears to be somehow food related, especially to non-native translators.

Burtt was always on the lookout for interesting-sounding real languages to use, and he came across Quechuan (which is actually a family of related languages).
This page claims that Huttese "is actually the real, human language: Quechua", which isn't exactly true if Burtt's description of Ward's performance is correct.
This page claims that "Huttese was derived from an ancient Peruvian language called 'Quechua'"—I think the several million speakers of various modern varieties might disagree about how "ancient" Quechua is.

Huttese is so widespread that to travel and do effective business, you must possess some working knowledge of the language.
Its ancient origins, of course, can be traced to the Hutts on their native planet, Varl; the Baobab Archives have uncovered tablets in archaeological diggings on the moons of Varl showing ransom notes written in ancient Huttese at least 1000 years ago.
Huttese is, unfortunately, a language spoken by the rougher, less-refined, and -- let's face it -- outright criminal element in the system.

No, at least according to Boba Fett: The Fight to Survive, it was Huttese.
Huttese is more of a Nal Hutta influence, and since Boba had no association with the Mandalorians until adulthood, there's no reason for him to speak Mando'a.
As for a translation, another way it's used is as a death curse (according to C-3PO, a lot of Huttese words derive from food imagery (hence 'poison') but "putting fierfek in the food" is equivalent to "putting a death curse on all who eat the food").

there were no subtitles when anyone is speaking huttese (unless i turned on the subs, but then all the dialogue would be subbed), such as anakin and sebulba before the podrace or anakin and watto in his shop.
i just played around with the disc and if Sub 2 is turned on all through the film the huttese is subbed at the proper times.
On my R1 disc (US) Sub2 is just the Huttese captions, and that sub track defaults on when the disc starts up.

Date Posted: Sep 23, 2005 03:03 PM One thing that has really annoyed me in the past (Except for Lando and 3PO pronouncing Han wrong) is that the Huttese language uses the same words for different meanings.
Considering the lengths that fans analyse the films I'm sure they would have realised that someone would notice if the same lines were used to mean different things.
Alternatively, if they are the same then maybe either the subtitles aren't a literal translation or inflection in Huttese can change the meanings of the words to something different.

Okay, the weird part is not that I think the rodians were pronouncing the Huttese wrong, but the fact that (1) I can translate it, and (2) I think I can pronounce a made-up language better than a made-up alien.
