		Hutton has produced a whitewash, delivering a ruling that is virtually bereft of criticism of the actions of Blair, his Director of Communications Alastair Campbell, Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon, and the Ministry of Defence, the civil service, the Joint Intelligence Committee and the intelligence services.

		Hutton also took the BBC governors and management to task for jumping to Gilligan's defense without giving proper consideration to the government's complaints about the story or whether Gilligan's allegations were factually accurate.
		However, Hutton did conclude the Ministry of Defense was "at fault and to be criticized" for failing to tell Kelly that his identity as the suspected source would be confirmed to journalists who suggested it.

		Hutton's line on the 45 minute claim was that the intelligence services believed the source to be accurate, therefore going to war and killing thousands of people was fine.
		Hutton says that the government did not try to "sex up" the dossier and that Gilligan accusing that it inserted the 45 minute claim knowing it or suspecting it to be false and claiming the govt.
		Hutton's report seems to me to be a comlete whitewash, protecting the status-quo, as it seems such inquiries often are.
