Hwacheon is once called the Yasimae, and changed to Nangcheongun when it became Silla's landa, attached to Chunchu in early Goryeo, changed to Nanghyeoncheon in the Joseon Dynasty period and today's Hwacheon is called as Choseon Gojong 6th.
Hwacheon is joined together with lake, mountain and valley and it is near by the truce line in the northest of Gangwondo.
By the reports about the tigers appearing in here, Hwacheon is embossed that this is the only place where tiger inhabits and it proves that Hwacheon is a beautiful village that keeps a mystery and the natural cleanness.

The Hwacheon County of Gangwon Province, which is located about 80 miles northeast of Seoul, is known as a 'Water Country' of Korea, where the water is so clean that trouts and otters live.
Hwacheon is the only county throughout the Republic of Korea, where the pensioners' housing is promoted by the county government.
As I said earlier briefly, Hwacheon County is a clean country relatively less frequented by people and less trodden upon in the fact that it is a kind of 'military zone' bordering on the DMZ running across the Korean peninsula between east coast and west coast.
