Hwang Young-Cho (born March 22, 1970) is a former South Korean athlete, winner of the marathon race at the 1992 Summer Olympics.
Born in Samcheok, South Korea, Hwang Young-Cho was a promising track athlete in his junior years, but after his first marathon in 1991, which he won, decided to specialize to marathon.
Hwang raced sparingly after Barcelona, and he retired after injury prevented him from gaining a place on the 1996 South Korean Olympic team.

From 1992 onwards, Hwang concentrated solely on the marathon, and on 2 February 1992, he reduced his personal best to 2hr 08min 47sec when he finished second at the Beppu marathon.
In the Barcleona Olympic marathon held on 9 August that year, Hwang was in the leading pack from the start, but in a slowly run race, this group still numbered thirty runners at the halfway mark.

Hwang, Kee was born November 9, 1914 in Jang Dan- Kyong Ki province, where the DMZ is now.
Hwang’s first exposure to martial arts took place in May 1921 at age seven during the Dan-O festival, which is the national May festival, where he saw a fight between a man and eight opponents.
Hwang asked the man for formal lessons but he refused due to Hwang’s young age.
