HYDERABAD, Feb 15: Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party chief Dr Qadir Magsi has alleged that the Sindh government is being held hostage by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement which is working on an anti-Sindh agenda.
The STPP chief observed that Hyderabad was the political, cultural, literary and historical centre of Sindh and warned that any move to bifurcate the district would be strongly resisted.

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad district council session here on Tuesday saw anger and protest from the members over a letter of the district coordination officer (DCO) claiming that the Sindh Local Government Ordinance (SLGO) says the presence of officials in every session is not required.
The members raised objections to the letter written in reply to a letter of the council officer regarding the rulings of the convener based on the complaints of members that officials are not attending sessions of the council.
Yameen Soomro said the district council is supreme as compared to other institutions and officers and added that the letter doesn’t mention any rule of the local government ordinance.

Formerly, Hyderabad was known as Bhagyanagar.  This was named in the sweet memory of the Sulthan’s beloved Bhagamathi.  After her death, the name Bhagyanagar had 2 or 3 changes and at last, it was named as Hyderabad Deccan.
The climate of the city is fairy equitable.  However, of late, citizen are experiencing arête climate, which seems to be a common factor for all metropolitan cities in the country.  The normal rain fall of the Dist. Is 786.8mm and against that the actual rain in 2002-03 is 614.7mm.  South west mon-soon period is 472.0mm.
The Hyderabad district is occupying the highest position in the state with regard to literacy with 68.80 percent of literates to the total population of the district.  The percentage of literates in the state is 61.11 percent.
