Cephalic Carnage coined their own term for their music, Rocky Mountain HydroGrind.

Jazzgrind bands to definitely have a deek at are Virulence and some stuff by the now more mainstream Dillinger Escape Plan.
The music is akin to modern Grindcore such as Blood Duster, but the band members participate in the smoking of Bob Marley fags.
A Hydrogrind band [as far as I know, the only one] to most certainly have a listen to is Cephalic Carnage.

Anomalies is their fourth full-length album, and will be released march 15th, on Relapse Records.

I'm always interested to hear what these crazy hydrogrind greenies are up to, because if there's one band that over the past few years has given my ears the equivalent of Mr.
So when I say this is more focused, I mean it… the first seven songs hit you like well oiled pistons, relentlessly pounding your ears into submission.
The first hint of something odd is a song called "Piecemaker" which as a strong stoner rock feel to it but in a raging, hydrogrind kind of way, and Jawsh (bass) wields some insanely downtuned riffs.

Cephalic Carnage haven’t hit that stage yet, thank fuck, but the thing is, it’s becoming too much.
Now, I must admit, my first "Hydrogrind" experience was the title track from 2002’s Lucid Interval, so right away I was fucking floored by their out of control grind assault.
I quickly got a hold of said album and was happy to find many mind-fuckingly sweet tunes on it.

The album is still chaotic as fuck and the humor is still there, but the chaos and experimentation is in an entirely new direction.
Most songs like The Will Or The Way, Kill For Weed, Litany Of Failure, and parts of Sleeprace will fit right in with Cephalic Carnage's previous repertoire of furious, insane hydrogrind anthems, but the others show a whole new side of Cephalic or further show their mastery of the doom genre.
Piecemaker begins by sounding like it belongs on an early 80's hard rock record, then breaks up into a very slow and heavy doom section.

 Contamination Tour 2000 Review
The band was extraordinarily tight - if you are looking to get into the death/grind scene look no further than Origin.
Cephalic Carnage's Rocky Mountain hydrogrind simply blew people away!
Combining the best of grindcore, jazzed up death metal, and harsh grooves Cephalic Carnage cut a swath of music intensity thick enough to block sunlight.

Lenzig, their singer, asked us a few times who among those present smoked pot, question to which the audience answered "YAAAHHH!!!!".
I must say they personnally define their music as one of HydroGrind, which I believe is a fitting term.
The crowd's reactions were excellent and this pushed Cephalic to give themselves even more.

They manage to extend the sound picture even further, sticking the post-Black Metal reminiscences and sort of poetic/acoustic moments of relief, to complete your listening suffocation.
Still — it sounds better to me than those hydrogrind teams from the States.
Maybe this diversity to blame, maybe less psyched out yet more intelligent approach.

One of the best CDs I have ever heard.
Self proclaimed "Rocky Mountain Hydrogrind" is perfect description they got extremely good death grind on here, but some weird atmospheric parts on here too.
A good mix to keep things different, plus they rip no one off at all, they got their own thing going here.
