Other recipients include Makapu'u Point lighthouse on Oahu Island in Hawaii, Cabo da Sao Vincente in Portugal, Manora Point in Karachi, Pakistan, the famous Bishop Rock off the coast of Cornwall (in the UK), Abrolhos island off the coast of Brazil and Cape Race, Newfoundland.
By the 1920s, high-intensity lamp technology had rendered lenses of this size obsolete.

It was a cast iron tower with a coal oil lamp turned by clockwork.
It was replaced in 1907 by a concrete tower and a light with a massive hyperradiant Fresnel lens.

 Around Oahu - Makapu'u Lighthouse
Located makai of Kalanianaole Highway just before the Makapu'u Point Lookout, the lighthouse still maintains the largest Fresnel lens in use today.
The procedure no longer exists to reproduce the 12-foot-high French Fresnel hyperradiant lens that surrounds the lamplike shutters to magnify and intensify the illumination of a single electrical 1,000-watt, 120-volt light bulb.
An identical lamp sits by its side and will automatically rotate into position if the first one burns out.
