This was corrected on January 1, 1947 with the Canadian Citizenship Act, S.C. 1946, c.15 (the "Former Act").
The Canadian Citizenship Act of 1947 was enacted by Parliament to respond to World War II issues.
Benner's Canadian citizenship was granted though he was born "abroad" in the U.S. to a Canadian mother, without the more onerous requirements of the point system.

Bwahaha, I was in red deer with a government youth volunteer program (katimavik), and two of my group-members got kicked out for going linedancing there, getting pissed out of their minds, and coming home and puking on the shoes of the program leader.
I've always lived in a rather hilly place (The Appalachians and Canadian Shield might be a little more eroded than the Rockies, but they're still pretty nice) and I've seen the Alps (ok, I'm a mountain snob), but it was the first time I actually saw land this flat.

Most of my friends in high school were canadian, and I grew up on the Gentle Giant, MR Dress Up and French Sesame Street.
Sorry I missed this thread for so long, but I just assumed it was Yam and me and we are separated by mountains and prairies, so it is slightly less thrilling than realizing their are Digsters as close as a few towns away.
