Bradbury had originally intended to write several scripts for the original Twilight Zone (1959), though his sole contribution to the series was an adaptation of his own short story "I Sing the Body Electric!".
Bradbury was also a consultant for the American Pavilion at the 1964 New York World's Fair, and he designed the exhibit housed in EPCOTEPCOT's Spaceship Earth geosphere at Disney World/.
Note that for Bradbury, there is some blurring of categories, and the distinctions below are somewhat subjective, for he frequently has written multiple short stories about a set of characters or a subject, making minor edits or adding supplemental material, and calling the results a "novel".

Bradbury also seems to affirm Whitman's view of the human being as more than singular, as containing "countless immortal lives with countless embodiments and enjoyments"; the Electrical Grandmother tells her charges that she is "all the people who thought of me and planned me and built me and set me running.
I am all the things they wanted to be." Oddly, though, the body of the Electrical Grandmother is of no importance whatever; her being is entirely "electric," and her "personality" lies entirely within her circuits.
Bradbury's obvious fascination with artificial intelligence degrades the physical body; Whitman celebrates flesh and blood.

This attitude had a bit of a range, going from taking him for granted to concluding that maybe this master, this craftsman, wasn't really as good as we had thought he was.
If I were to look for the source of this attitude, I might reach the conclusion that it is the result of Bradbury switching track, veering away from horror a bit and going into pure fantasy, as well as topics more firmly grounded in the mainstream.
The stories in I SING THE BODY ELECTRIC tend toward the more "mainstream" end of Bradbury's work, but there are still nods toward fantasy which mirror a reality uncomfortably like our own.

Besides the title story, this collection includes 28 of the great Bradbury's other stories, including "Heavy Set," "The Parrot Who Met Papa," and "The Lost City of Mars." The selections represent a nice array of Bradbury's work from the 1940s to the 1970s, with some straight sf mixed with more lighthearted fare.
I highly recommend this book to any fan of Ray Bradbury's work, or to anyone who wishes to introduce his classic works into their library.

Bradbury's very good at producing short evocative stories that describe the feel of a situation rather than the events that occur in it; most of this book falls into that category.
