		I Spit On Your Grave (also known as Day of the Woman) is one of the few movies directed by Meir Zarchi.
		The movie was controversial enough to earn an (additional info and facts about X rating) X rating upon its original release in 1978, and earned Zarchi a reputation without him having to make a second film.
		This was the title that was used when the movie was censored and released under an R rating in the United States in 1981.

		A surprising percentage of I Spit on Your Grave is flat-out tedious.
		If you're going to watch this -- it's not like you're going to miss much in the way of music (there is none) or dialogue -- I highly recommend doing so in the jocular company of Joe Bob Briggs, whose audio commentary on the Elite Millennium Edition DVD is hilarious, insightful, and essential.

		On the contrary, the killer in "I Spit on Your Grave" ultimately turns out to also be the heroine, and she has a real reason for doing what she does.
		The DVD edition of "I Spit on Your Grave" is probably more suitable for fans of the picture only, since it doesn't offer any special features other than the cheesy theatrical trailer (is it just me or are all the trailers from '70s films unintentionally hilarious?).
		On the whole, I was fairly disappointed by the DVD of "I Spit on Your Grave." Although the picture quality was fabulous, and I'm glad I could see it in the way it was originally meant to be shown, the sound is underwhelming, to say the least.

		For the longest time, I Spit On Your Grave was on the shelf of Movies I Will Never Watch, keeping company with Welcome to the Dollhouse, Salo, Magic, Men Behind the Sun, Cannibal Holocaust, and Joe's Apartment.
		If anything, I was grateful for the commentary (more on it later) as it muffled much of the sounds in the rape scenes, which softened the impact and made them easier to handle.
		The writer in me would like to make the film be either entirely from the woman's point of view or to make it a little less fl-and-white and have one of the assailants experience genuine remorse (Matthew's failing to kill Jennifer doesn't count, he was just wimping out).

		It would be obvious to practically anyone with a few brain cells to rub together that if you're gonna orchestrate a gang rape in broad daylight that perhaps some sort of mask or disguise might be a good idea.

		The plot is simple, there's no characterization really (we don't even get to know Jenny that well before she gets raped and goes off) and the payoff is light at the end.

		Besides answering your questions about the film, Zarchi's commentary also provides a clue as to what sort of person he is. Overall, he comes across as intelligent, articulate, and even compassionate.
		He's not blind to its flaws, but he is firmly in the camp that sees I Spit On Your Grave as sympathetic to its protagonist, rather than a misogynistic mess.

		I saw the title “I Spit On Your Corpse, I Piss On Your Grave” sitting in my mailbox and I instantly smelled cheap imitation shot by a bunch of knuckleheads who have friends who happen to like to get naked on camera and other friends who can whip up some crumby homemade splatter effects.
		Aside from being completely graphic, I think what sets “I Spit On Your Corpse, I Piss On Your Grave” most from the horde of drek is that it actually has a head on its shoulders.
		If you’re into sleaze and exploitation, I strongly advise you to seek out “I Spit On Your Corpse, I Spit On Your Grave” and “Scrapbook” as well as keep your eyes on director Eric Stanze.
