		Kfir C1 First flown in June 1973, the Kfir C1 (Kfir means "Young Lion") was basically the airframe of the Mirage III mated to the General Electric J79 afterburning turbojet and fitted with a suite of Israeli electronics.
		Kfir C7 The Kfir C7, the final single-seat version introduced in 1983, is based on the Kfir C2 with a specially adapted version of the J79-GEJ1E with some 1,000 lb (454 kg) more afterburning thrust.

	IAI Kfir - Definition, explanation
		The IAI Kfir (hebrew: כפיר;) is an Israeli-built military aircraft based on the French Mirage 5.
		Following a French government embargo that prevented Dassault selling Israel the Mirages that they had already paid for, IAI produced an unlicenced copy of this aircraft as the IAI Nesher (possibly with the clandestine support of Dassault - see the article on the Nesher for details of these claims).
		At the same time, IAI was planning a variant in which the Atar engine was to be replaced with an Israeli-built General Electric J79 engine, the same engine used on the American F-104 Starfighter and F-4 Phantom II fighters.

	Kfir C.10
		However, the IAI C.10 is the latest in the line of Kfir multi-role fighters developed by matching the J-79 engine with the aiframe of the Dassault Mirage 5, and is also known the Kfir 2000, or the CE, the latter designation being applied to the fighters in service with Ecuador.
