In 1983, IAI began to upgrade the Kfir C.2s/TC.2s to a new variant, the Kfir C.7/TC.7, which carried a modified version of the J79-GE-17E powerplant, with an additional 4.45 kN (1,000 lb st) of afterburning thrust, and an enhanced thrust-to-weight ratio.

There is a superficial resemblance to each and both later types are clearly influenced by the design of the F-16 (GD even worked on the LAVI and IAI then helped with the J-10 so a link definitely exists) however the three aircraft are actually quite different in many key areas.
And the LAVI was Israel's attempt to build a plane that would match the F-16, but was cancelled because they were convinced that it could never do so (even if it did have some minor modifications).
After the 1987 cancellation of the Lavi, it was taken over by CAIC and the IAI carried on with the development of avionic equipment.

Lavi essentially seems to be an f-16 updated with late-80s early 90s aerodynamic advances, namely changing the layout to delta-wing with canards.
Israeli F-16 pilots who flew the Lavi or saw it fly commented that it would leave the F-16 in the dust.
The practical thing for China to have done was to cosmetically change the design a bit and remove signs of a Lavi pedigree.
