The fact that the Xbox 360 has USB ports doesn’t guarantee we’ll be able to plug in PC input devices, like a mouse and keyboard, plus this time all Xbox 360 peripherals must be approved at a silicon level in order to work for the console.
Regarding video codecs, the Xbox 360 will be play anything that a Windows Media Center PC streams to it, so the question of the codec applies more to the PC, not the Xbox 360 which simply act as an extender.

IBM was going to announce the 360 in 1964 April as an ASCII machine, but their printers and punches were not ready to handle ASCII, and IBM just HAD to announce.
However, IBM (present-day note: Read "Learson") made the decision not to take that action, and from this time the worldwide position of IBM hardened to "any code as long as it is ours".
That was three years before the 360 was announced, and IBM was totally aware of it, especially because they had already decided on the 8-bit byte.
