Fusion Reactor - iBurst Wireless Technology
The iBurst system is based on IntelliCell technology from ArrayComm in the US to attain the extreme levels of efficiency in usage of the available radio frequency.
The iBurst technology is a pure IP, end-to-end system built on two primary components: base stations deployed by a network operator, much like today's cellular services, and wireless modems or PC cards that a customer uses with an existing Internet appliance, such as a notebook computer, to access the service.
As a result the iBurst network is able to provide data rates of up to 1 Mbps to each user with a maximum base station capacity of 20 Mbps.

Under ideal conditions iBurst can download (data to you) at up to 1 megabits per second (Mbps) and upload (data from you) at up to 345 kilobits per second (Kbps) (which is also.345 Mbps).
In contrast, iBurst has much greater range more like a mobile phone which blankets entire metropolitan areas so the customer can expect coverage where they are rather than have to seek out hotspot locations.
An iBurst base station's range extends from approximately 3 km in built up or hilly areas with lots of clutter, to approximately 13 km in ideal conditions such as water or flat land.

The iBurst service operates on 1.9GHz which is a privately own frequency space, and does not suffer the effects of 802.11 wireless which is basically classed as a junk frequency for devices such as Microwave Ovens/Medical Equipment etc. As the theory goes, the quieter and lower the frequency the further distance you will achieve.
The other advantage of the iBurst is the use of special aerials, known as IntelliCell technology from ArrayComm, which though the use of fully adaptive smart antenna technology dynamically adjusts signal patterns to and from each subscriber, creating a “personal cell” for efficient delivery of voice or data services.
As the iBurst frequency is privately owned, the equipment is a little on the expensive side, but as more people sign up the cost will come down, and the equipment is good quality, providing "Made in Japan" and an external aerial socket, on top the normal flip open built in aerial.

With the iBurst system, users need not adapt their computing habits, applications or devices to match their access method of the moment.
This is in stark contrast to previous wireless data approaches, where the access method forced the choice of a particular device (e.g., a cellular phone) and tailoring of applications and content specifically for that device.
