The ICC Trophy is an international one-day cricket tournament run under the auspices of the International Cricket Council.
The 2005 ICC Trophy took place in Ireland, and the top five of the 12 competing teams will be granted One-day International status for matches amongst themselves and against the 10 ICC full members and Kenya.
This status will need to be renewed at the next ICC Trophy tournament in 2009 for all six of the associate members (including Kenya).

The ICC is working with UK Sport to implement an anti doping policy for the tournament that meets stringent international standards, including the use of World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) accredited laboratories for the testing of samples.
ICC chief executive Malcolm Speed said that while cricket is regarded as a low-risk sport for drug abuse, it was important to demonstrate compliance with the rigorous anti doping standards recognised by leading authorities: "International cricket has a good track record in steering clear of drug related problems.
No player tested positive for drugs at the last ICC Cricket World Cup in South Africa (Shane Warne's test was carried out in Australia before the tournament), and I would expect the same high standards to be maintained during the ICC Champions Trophy.

There is also a news coming out of ICC sources at Lord’s and given wide coverage by the English dailies of UAE regarding revamping of players qualification rules after the ICC trophy 2001, which is to be held in Toronto, Canada, from June 27 - July 15, 2001.
ICC has discriminated against the UAE cricketers by evolving qualification rules, directly affecting them and deprived them of their due status and recognition in the cricketing world.
If the ICC would not have changed these qualification rules targeted only against UAE players after the laurels it won in 1994 and 1996, by now, the UAE, like Bangladesh would have become a full member of ICC or at least would have acquired the one-day playing status like Kenya.
