 iCab CSS1 Conformance
This much is true, and iCab's developers are to be commended for coming clean and having limitations that are centred on certain properties instead of quirks that can't be predicted without extensive testing.
iCab's developers admit that some styles aren't implemented for inline elements, but there's no mention that it fails in different ways depending on whether the inline element is inside a table or not.
Tables themselves are also limited in their CSS support in iCab: borders on table cells don't work at all, it seems.

QuirksBlog: iCab 3.0; CSS compatibility updated
iCab's support for the CSS I test is roughly equal to Opera's; not a bad score at all.
iCab is also available for Mac OS 9, and given the sparsity of browsers for this OS it's probably the best choice.
I think it's worth mentioning that iCab 3.0 is also available for Mac's with OS 9, one of few new browsers for that platform.

 The Alternative | Review| iCab 2
iCab is developed by a small German company, and the product always seems to be in beta - but these are some of the most solid betas we have ever seen.
We hope that the final version fixes iCab's tendency to run out of memory prematurely, but it's not really an issue unless you have a regular need to load a dozen pages at once.
Cookie management is equally comprehensive, with the ability to block all cookies or none, to expire all cookies at the end of each session, or block specific cookies from individual domains, again handy for keeping your personal information personal and out of someone's marketing database.

The interface between the pilot and the simulator at the VMS is a structure called the Interchangeable Cab (ICAB), which recreates the cockpit of an aerospace vehicle.
Sensory information is delivered to the pilot in many forms: visual cues from the out-the-window scene and the flight instruments, motion cues from the motion base and the vibration generator under the seat, and auditory cues, which reproduce the sounds of flight.
Not only are many of the components within the ICAB interchangeable, but the ICAB itself is portable and can be moved to different areas of the facility according to the phase of a simulation.

Joppisch says that iCab is not intending to challenge Microsoft and AOL (Netscape) for market share, but rather to offer a solid, fast, and small browser for those who want one.
Installing iCab is about as simple as it could be: just expand the compressed file, open the folder containing the iCab browser application, double-click the iCab icon and you're away to the races with no restart required.
The iCab browser has real promise, and is a refreshing antidote to the bloat of Communicator and Explorer, and the heavy corporate baggage they carry, while retaining most of the features most people use and even adding some innovative wrinkles of its own.

iCab X 3.0.3 Released; Mini-Review Update - Browser Watch   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-12)
I'm a longtime iCab fan It's my number one recommendation for use with Mac OS Classic, and having used it since 1997, before there was an English version I know this browser and its formidable capabilities inside out.
On the downside, iCab is really lagging the competiton in terms of speed optimization, and I'm obliged to report that it's the slowest browser I've tried out recently, and by a significant margin.
When iCab is running under MacOS 9.1 and older the very first time, it now disabling usage of Unicode text input fields (MLTE) by default (can be configured in the preferences dialog of iCab).

iCab is available for free (a paid version for $29 will be available ultimately when the iCab project reaches completion), and it originally started off to be 'small, lean and fast', in marked contrast with the bloat and sluggishness of IE and Netscape at the time.
iCab Beta 3.0 is faster than 2.x, even though it hasn't yet been optimized for speed.
One cool thing that is not mentioned in the article is that iCab is primarily the work of one man, Alexander Clauss.

 iCab & SmoothType: Odd Couple?
iCab is getting better all the time, is much faster than either IE or Netscape, and is being developed for pre-PowerPC Macs as well as OS X. It'll be interesting to compare iCab with OmniWeb when I finally make the move to OS X sometime next year.
The gray bar at the top of the displayed page is much smaller then on iCab (on the right), and the PowerMax ad is much closer to the top of the navigation bar than in iCab.
But iCab doesn't provide that extra space around the text, so SmoothType is trying to smooth the fonts with both the fl background and that white line that abuts the text.

ATPM 5.04 - Paradigm: iCab - A Web Browser You Can Like
This may change in the coming months as iCab Company adds support for Cascading Style Sheets and Netscape’s display engine is replaced with the new Gecko, however at present iCab is the speed champ in my book.
It has a nice download manager that is very similar to IE’s, supports the command-click shortcut for opening a link in a new window that I have been unable to live without since IE 3, has the usual support for bookmarks (called the Hotlist), and so on.
The only other catch is that iCab will eventually cost about $25; however I think that is a small price to pay for one of the most important applications on your hard disk.
