  Unixdaemon: Internet Explorer Plugins
Unfortunately once Netscape was firmly thrashed (Although i did still have to put up with it on Linux.) the IE team seemed to lose its drive and failed to excite with the bland version 5 and the great gaping security hole known as IE6.
IE only shop so the developers and designers are missing the two-click invocation of other browsers.
Please note that if you are in a child window of IE then you may have the current page replaced with the validation results.

IE Doubled Float-Margin Bug - CSS fixes and workarounds
It's a classic type of IE bug fix, using one property to cure a bug that affects an unrelated property.
Below are two live demos using the same code as previously, first displaying the IE bug as usual, and next the same demo with the "inline" fix applied to the float.
Y'see, at the beginning of this episode Steve noticed the IE text indent bug and found the "inline" fix for it.

Internet Explorer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Internet Explorer, abbreviated IE or MSIE, is a proprietary web browser made by Microsoft and currently available as part of Microsoft Windows.
Internet Explorer is the most widely used web browser today, although since 2004 it has lost some usage share to other browsers.
It would, however, be continued as a part of the evolution of the operating system, with IE updates coming bundled in OS upgrades.

Browser History: Windows Internet Explorer   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-07)
The original IE 1.0 browser code was licensed from Spyglass (a commercial arm for the NCSA Mosaic browser work), but the Microsoft team quickly made a big mark on the original codebase.
Beginning with IE version 3, the browser and its components became very tightly coupled with the Microsoft operating systems they were installed on (which was an issue in a major lawsuit against the company.)
Microsoft announces that IE will no longer be released as a stand-alone browser, rather it will only be released with new operating system releases.

 Stopdesign | The IE Factor
IE (per the general tone of this thread) is the big problem.
IE would still be there, but in a much more limited capacity (due to the highly unlikely occurrence of a user actually going through the trouble of changing the default to use it).
IE is so tied into Windows that it makes it “work” to change it.

If IE is 90% (I just picked that out of the air) of browsers in use, then IE *is the* standard and W3C is irrelevant.
The reason I remain with IE is that some webites I use at work only support IE.
The fact that it has such a majority only means that IE suckitude has brought the internet to a standstill in terms of innovation.

eclecticism: It's not my fault IE sucks. Get a real browser.   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-07)
Sure, I know that IE makes up somewhere over 90% of the web browser market, and I know that because of that, it's quite likely that somewhere over 90% of the people who stumble across my site won't be seeing it the way that they should.
First at all, the big difrences between IE and other browsers is that it supports every protocoll witch is available for javascript, vbscripts, old style codes, the new style codes(W3C), webforms, objects, applets and DOM refrences.
IE has been given ample time to fix it’s known bugs and security issues, yet it fails to do so….

IE and.NET are so far ahead of Firefox and the OSS community, so off in an advanced league of their own, showing what they can really do, that they have made me an adherent.
My main gripe about IE (esp. as I've found a great deal of the spyware problem stems from user stupidity) is that it half-ass supports current CSS standards, is full of proprietary css "filters", and has horrid PNG support.

 US-CERT Vulnerability Note VU#713878
IE uses a cross-domain security model to maintain separation between browser frames from different sources.
IE is vulnerable to a cross-domain violation that seems to involve a race condition, frames, and possibly the execScript method.
IE then incorrectly considers the cached domain instead of the redirected domain when determining the security domain of the modal dialog box.

Why You Should Dump Internet Explorer ()   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-07)
My argument is simple: the benefits of using IE are too few - and the faults too great — to put off the adoption of an alternative any longer.
In addition to the spyware issues, IE in general has had a terrible track record when it comes to all types of serious security issues.
Using IE all the time just because the occasional site is designed so poorly as to look like crap in other browsers is utterly bad form.

The latest version of IE is 6, and it has certainly accumulated an impressive record of holes: 153 since 18 April 2001, according to the SecurityFocus Vulnerabilities Archive.
We all know this is true: IE is a buggy, insecure, dangerous piece of software, and the source of many of the headaches that security pros have to endure (I'm not even going to go into its poor support for Web standards; let that be a rant for another day).
In fact, IE hasn't really been improved in years, and other browsers now offer far more innovative features and capabilities.
